Over the past 20 years, the OPEX method has been developed by taking the best parts of personal training and group fitness.

Personal training is highly effective. You get one-on-one attention, a workout that is just for you, and individual accountability with your trainer…but at a steep cost. (cha-ching!).

Group fitness has its benefits too. You get to workout in a fun environment, be part of a community, and engage with motivating coaches…but a one-size-fits-all approach will eventually halt your progress (ie/ no gains).

OPEX combines the best aspects of both training methods at a reasonable price. Our personalized approach teaches you to take ownership of your health and fitness, with the support of inspired clients and coaches around you.

Our Process

1. LET’S TALK

At OPEX South Brooklyn, we believe the coach-client relationship is extremely important. Every client begins with a 1-on-1 consultation with a coach, where we review your goals, experience and current lifestyle habits.

2. ASSESSMENT

Your coach will take you through a three-part assessment (Body, Move, Work) to measure your body composition, screen movement patterns, and test your work capacity to determine your strengths and weaknesses.

3. TRAINING

You train when it’s convenient for you. All workouts and communication will be delivered by your coach every Sunday via the TrueCoach mobile app. All training is performed in a semi-private open gym setting with a professional floor coach present.

4. LIFESTYLE

While most gyms focus on the 1 hour of your day you spend in the gym, our secret sauce is in the remaining 23 hours. Your coach will help optimize your nutrition, lifestyle and recovery to maximize the results you get from your time in the gym.

5. Monthly Check-Ins

We pride ourselves on delivering tangible, practical and sustainable results to our clients. Every month you will sit down with your coach to evaluate your progress and reassess your programming. Your program evolves as you grow.

Our team met almost five years ago through CrossFit. We loved the application of functional fitness, Olympic weightlifting, and intensity, but over time we realized the model was unsustainable for us. When it came time for us to open a gym, we knew we wanted to do something different.
