Over the past 20 years, the OPEX method has been developed by taking the best parts of personal training and group fitness.
Personal training is highly effective. You get one-on-one attention, a workout that is just for you, and individual accountability with your trainer…but at a steep cost. (cha-ching!).
Group fitness has its benefits too. You get to workout in a fun environment, be part of a community, and engage with motivating coaches…but a one-size-fits-all approach will eventually halt your progress (ie/ no gains).
OPEX combines the best aspects of both training methods at a reasonable price. Our personalized approach teaches you to take ownership of your health and fitness, with the support of inspired clients and coaches around you.
We don’t believe in crash diets or crash fitness. We’re into getting stronger, fitter and healthier forever. We believe in the motivation and atmosphere that group training provides, but we don’t believe in one template for everyone on the gym floor.
1. MEET & GREET (& FALL IN LOVE)
The first step is to schedule your FREE consultation and body assessment so you can come in, check out the facility and meet our wonderful team! This is an opportunity for you to see if our community and the OPEX methodology is a good fit for you and your goals.
As part of the consultation you will sit down with a coach to discuss your current health and fitness habits and goals and we will also give you a FREE body assessment on the inBody 570 to evaluate your body composition and identify any imbalances.
Our first priority is to make sure every client feels comfortable and welcomed at OPEX South Brooklyn. We want you to fall in love and feel like this is your second home.
2. WHERE ARE YOU, RIGHT NOW?
After your consultation, your coach will take you through a thorough three-part assessment, which we call Body, Move, Work:
Body – You will use the inBody 570 body composition analyzer to measure your body fat mass, skeletal muscle mass, water levels, and more.
Move – Your coach will guide you through a number of mobility, motor control and strength tests for the squat, overhead press and other functional movements.
Work – Based on your training age, your coach will run you through a number of metabolic conditioning tests to measure your current work capacity.
Using this information, your coach will develop a training, nutrition and lifestyle program based on your goals and current habits.
3. TRAIN THE BROOKLYN WAY
You train when it suits you, not when we choose to run classes. All of your training sessions are covered by an experienced, professional coach, so you’re never left guessing about what to do.
Your workout programs will be delivered to you via the TrueCoach mobile app, where you can also track your progress and communicate with your coach outside of the gym.
The coaches are also there to facilitate camaraderie and fun among our clients. Training shouldn’t feel like a chore. It should be fun – so expect fire music, big smiles and positive vibes every time you come in.
4. BIG APPLE LIFESTYLE HABITS
We get it. Living in the greatest city on Earth is definitely a distraction. Endless restaurants to explore, new sights to always see, and fun events on every corner, every night of the week.
While everyone focuses on the 1 hour you spend in the gym, what happens in the other 23 hours? Optimizing your nutrition, lifestyle, and recovery amid a busy schedule can help us maximize the results you get from your time in the gym.
We’re big on balance! Spend plenty of time with loved ones, in nature, and laughing. Life isn’t just about work. It’s about chasing fulfillment and being happy. That said, if you want real results, you’re going to have to put in some hard work. However, your coaches at OPEX South Brooklyn are specifically here to make sure you stay on track and never feel overwhlemed.
5. WE KEEP YOU ACCOUNTABLE
If you want to accomplish something you’ve never done before, you need to do something you’ve never done before. Everyone could benefit from a coach. Many professional athletes and Fortune 500 CEO’s have coaches too. It holds them accountable.
If you’re reading this, we’ll assume you’re a human being with a full range of responsibilities and emotions. We hold you accountable to your goals, but we also adjust your program as your life inevitably ebbs and flows.
Every 4 weeks you’ll sit down with your coach to catch up, review the previous month’s training and refine your program for the month to come. It’s training designed for real life. It’s OPEX.

Open Gym hours: 9am – 12pm, 3pm – 5pm, 8pm – 9pm
